The Cows Are Here!

Memaw told us that "the cows" come every year around my birthday.  They are transported to the pastures behind my mom's house to feed for the summer.  The cows are owned by the Detweiler's who purchased my grandpa's land after he died.  We couldn't believe it when they showed up Saturday morning, 2 days after my birthday.  You would have thought it was the circus.  Chloe came screaming through the house, "The cows are here!  The cows are here!"  Matt and the kids ran outside to watch and take pictures.  I must say that there are few things everyone must experience in their lives, unloading cows and their cute little calves, is one of them.

The calves are loaded on the upper level so they don't get trampled on by the larger cows.  It is fun to see them trying to find their mothers in the corral after they are unloaded.  The cows call out for them, so cute.

They all arrived safely, even the bulls, and now it is time to enjoy the spring and summer eating the green pasture.  All that rain we have been having, sure has greened things up nicely.
The cows usually leave around the beginning of September.  We were talking about how they will come for my birthday and leave for Chloe's.  Mason thinks that is "so sad" that they have to leave.

The cows are fun to have around, but they bring more flies, so now it's time to get out the fly swatters!
