At dinner, Chloe tells Carter he is not allowed to go into the girls bathroom. (This is the beginning of another random tangent that comes out of no-where...) I agreed, but also reminded her and Carter that he can go in girls bathrooms if we are in a store or some public restroom when Daddy isn't around. It isn't safe for him to go alone in a Men's Restroom.
He then proceeds to tell Chloe she can't go in the boy's bathroom unless Mommy isn't around and she has to go with Daddy. This starts a whole interesting conversation about bathrooms and emergencies.
Matt then says he can't go in the girls bathroom...ever. I then invited him to rescure me if I passed out in the Women's Restroom. We all agreed that would count as an emergency. Then Chloe adds very seriously, "If your bum gets stuck in the toilet, then that would be an emergency too and Daddy could come in to pull you out."
For Matt's sake, I definately hope that NOBODY'S bum gets stuck in the toilet!

The Quiet Game
On the way home from church today, the kids were chaotic. They were making so much noise so Matt finally said, "OK, lets play the quiet game." Chloe said, "One, Two, Three, Start!" One half of a second goes by and Mason yells, "Me Win!"
I noticed that our last post was on a Sunday driving home from Church. Our ward building is 30 minutes away, so we spend a lot of time driving in the car together. I guess that is where a lot of fun stories are made. :)

Happy Birthday Matt
Happy Birthday Matt!!!
This year I took the kids to the store so they could pick out daddy's birthday cake. I tried and tried to convince them of different cakes I knew Matt would like...but they refused to listen to me, because they just KNEW that Daddy would LOVE this Hamburger Cake!
Carter was so tickled when I agreed to get it. He kept laughing to himself as he pictured Matt trying to hold the cake up to his mouth like he was going to take a bite. Carter and Chloe fought about who was going to carry the cake throughout the rest of the trip through the store. It was a major big deal...this cake!
When we got home, it was still a couple days before Matt's birthday, and since the kids couldn't wait to get home with it...we ended up having to celebrate Matt's birthday immediately upon returning home. Thank you Matt for being such a great sport! I think this has been the most exciting birthday cake ever!
Here is Matt posing for his picture...I hope it was as exciting as Carter had planned. :)

The kids also wanted him to pretend he was really eating his fries...

Dogs
On the way home from church yesterday, Matt and I were discussing the day. Carter questioned something that was said and so Matt told Carter he had ears like a dog. Chloe pipes up and says, "Dog's don't hear good, they...they..." (she clearly was trying to figure out what they do) when Mason jumps in and yells, "Dogs Bite!" He then revealed the only fear he has, as a 3 year old. DOGS!

People Aren't Trash
This picture reminds me of the time that Matt and I took the kids to Santa Fe, soon after we had just moved to New Mexico. Mason was just a tiny baby still. As we were walking around the Plaza, Chloe looks up at me and says, "People aren't trash, they're lovely." I really have no idea where this statement came from, but apparently Chloe can see people for what they really are...lovely.
I have no idea why Mason was throwing himself away!
Good thing Carter hadn't taken the trash out yet!
Father's Day
What is a father to you?
Carter said, "He is a man that works real hard and loves us very much. And he celebrates our birthday and gives us presents."
Chloe said, "He um works in my bedroom and stuff and he works real hard like a man and he loves me and I love him, and um...and that he um picks me up from the bustop...um he lets us swim and he makes us dinner and lunch and breakfast and he also makes us pigs in a blanket for lunch and he tucks us in for bed. And um, he um got the horses saddled up at Memaw's and we get to ride them and we get to ride Chip and all those kind of horses, and he says prayers with us and when he says family prayer he always be's in it, and he always prints pictures out. The princesses for me, and Superheros for Carter and Cars for Mason and Nemo for Mason and Josie for Belle and that's it.
Here is a little poem that Matt received with an M&M tie at church...
Fathers are wonderful people
Too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
As often as we should...
But Fathers are just wonderful
In a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
And accolade of praise,
For the only reason Dad aspires
To fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
And to bring them Happiness...
And like our Heavenly Father,
He's a guardian and a guide,
Someone that we can count on
To be always on our side.
Thanks for being a great father and husband! We know you work hard and do so much because you love us. Thanks for being you! We all love you!

Orange
The other day Chloe saw our little neighbor friend.
Chloe said to me, "Our neighbor is brown. Do you know her mom?"
I agreed that I did know her and I responded, "It isn't very nice to refer to someone as brown." Then I asked, "What color are you?"
Chloe replied without any hesitation, "Orange."

Blueberry Day
So, Chloe got caught up in the St. Patrick's Holiday because she dressed in green and had to make a green box to catch the "Lepricon" in at school. She had a great time and wore us out with questions about the reality of lepricons. She was border-line fearful of the little guys. :)
On the day after St. Patrick's Day, Chloe wore a blue sweater to school. It was a hand-me-down from Carter, so I was helping her feel excited to wear it. She caught on to the excitement and said, "Maybe I can wear this blue sweater for next St. Patrick's Day. It will be Blue Patrick's Day, like Blueberry Day."

Happy Birthday Mason
Happy Birthday Mason!
This year Mason wanted to have a "Kung Fu Panda" Birthday. He also requested hot dogs. Since we were in Idaho and were going to be travelling back home on Mason's birthday, we decided to celebrate with our Idaho family. Memaw and Aunt Margie went to the store, but didn't have any luck finding anything "Kung Fu" so we all settled for hot dogs roasted over a fire, with s'mores and birthday cupcakes. Mason didn't seem to mind or even notice. Tuesday, June 16, 2009
