Baby Birds

They've hatched!  Our little blue Robin eggs have hatched and now we have little baby birds!  Oh, they are so...I want to say cute, but they really aren't that cute.  They look kind of fleshy with a few stray feathers on their heads.  They kind of look like little old men with big beaks.  I don't mean to offend any of the cute little old men in the world.
This picture is neat because the sun was shining so bright on the bush, but you could see all the little birds with their mouths wide open waiting to be fed.
Oh, they are kind of cute, I guess.  Maybe I should say they are precious, because they are definately that.  Precious.

This is another mother Robin that was sitting on her own nest of eggs.  She is beautiful, I think.

Isn't spring-time sweet?  We have really enjoyed watching all the little babies come into the world.  What a special time for the kids to witness the beauty of our Heavenly Father's creations!

Armour

Since Carter was about knee-high to a grasshopper, he has been a swordsman.  He started off using the tail of a dinosaur and eventually progressed up to a light saber from Star Wars.  He has always admired knights as well and all the amazing armour they wear.  Well, one day Toy Town got a shipment of Knight Armour in the store.  Carter imediately started saving his money.  He found odd jobs around the house to start earning some extra money.  One job he saw that he could make a lot of money was weeding, because of the never-ending supply of weeds.  Well, with Memaw's discount, he eventually saved up enough money to make the big purchase.  He was so excited and Mason was so jealous because he wanted one as well, but he hadn't earned enough money.

The day finally arrived when we made the long trek to the store with a wad of cash.  The package was ripped right open and the smell of fresh plastic filled the air.  When he got home, he put the breastplate and helmet on.  After a few hours a a couple days later, Carter realized that it was just a little bit too small.  He was disappointed, especially after spending his hard earned money.  It didn't take long for him to work out a deal with Mason, who had enough money to buy a couple of the pieces of armour from Carter.  They wheeled-a-deal right there and everyone was satisfied.
What a great experience Carter had in working hard for something that he really wanted.  There are many valuable lessons we can learn through hard work and saving.  Carter, you look amazing in your new armour!

Maybe someday, you will have a real set of armour so you can be a
Knight in Shining Armour!

What a handsome knight!

Pirate Party

Mason and Josie got invited to one of their first birthday parties.  Josie's little friend in Sunbeams, Aspen Allen, turned 4 and had a little Pirate Party.  Memaw helped dress them up for the party.  Aren't they just darling little pirates?

Love the silly faced pirate!

Happy Birthday Aspen!

Thanks for a great party!

Chloe Talent Show

This year Chloe was so excited to participate in the school talent show.  She and a couple friends put together a lip-sync with some cute dance moves to the song Peanut Butter & Jelly by INSIDEOUT an a cappella group.  It turned out really cute.

I made the girls these tie-died t-shirts to represent the peanut butter and jelly (use your imagination) and found Chloe a cute pink hat to wear for her costume.  She looked quite lovely, if a mother is allowed to be proud of her daughter!  I am not sure what this cute pouty face was all about, but she is even gorgeous with it.
The older girls got a little bit shy about all the moves, but Chloe really tried to go all out.  I wish we had a video camera with a long-lasting battery so we could have recorded it.
They were just so cute!

Josie was quite taken with this little baby girl from our Ward.  She wants a "baby" in the family so bad!
Carter suggested we take Chloe out for ice cream afterwards because she did so well.  We all agreed and went to
Arctic Circle for dessert.
We had a very splendid evening!
We are so proud of our Chloe and  her many talents.  She can sing and dance, but I think more importantly, she has great courage to stand up in front of her peers and perform.  Now, that takes talent!

She and Carter are already planning what they want to do for next year's talent show!

Carter wanted to perform a sword fighting routine, but he wasn't sure what the talent show would be like, so he sat this year out and hopes to practice for a great performance next year.

We can hardly wait for next year to come!

Great Job Chloe!!!

Mason Floating and Eating

Mason loves to float in the water.  He can really startle me when I walk in to check on him and he is laying like this in the water...
He also loves to eat Peanut Butter Toast on Homemade Wheat Bread.  This day was just too cute while he had purched himself on the tiny counter space.  Dangerous.  Cute.

Asparagus Hunting

Going on a Lion Hunt...wait...
Going on an Asparagus Hunt
Looking for a lot of it...
We're not afraid!

This year we had a fun time hunting for asparagus on the ditch-banks in Idaho.  It was kind of a rainy day, but we did find a few patches.  This is what it looks like.
Yummy, yummy!
Everybody grab a bag and your irrigating boots...well, we don't have irrigating boots, so grab your snow boots!  At least they'll keep your feet dry in the wet grass!
Memaw and her friend Mark found a lot more asparagus throughout the next couple weeks.  We love to eat asparagus!  Matt cooked up a whole bag full for dinner one night and it was suprising to hear the kids complain that they only got two heaping-helpings each!  We ran out way too soon!  I don't remember liking asparagus as a kid.  It helps that Matt is a great cook!

Can't wait for next year's
hunting season!

Science Projects

Toy Town Tuesday was a real scientific experience this week!  The kids made all kinds of fun things...

Rubber-bouncy Balls
Goop
Snow
Slimy Worms
Green Slime
And the fun...never ends!
