Invention Convention

Carter recently participated in the Invention Convention.  He invented a dice game called Bluff.  He received a blue ribbon for participating and we think he did a really great job putting together the whole project.
He is quite a little inventor and we are so proud of him.
Tonight was the night of the open house for all families of the inventors to come and see the inventions.  It was exciting to see all the creativity involved in the inventions.
Carter's display was right next to his friend Claire's
who invented bucket bonnets.
Great job inventing Carter!

Pinewood Derby 2012

Another Pinewood Derby year has approached and passed.  This year Carter wanted to make a shark.  He named him "Bob."  He said, "Who would ever guess a shark's name would be Bob?"
There is Bob...ready to race...with that silly sly grin of his.
He takes the race...and every single one after that!
(Gotta love this seriously sad looking race track.)
Carter wins another first place ribbon...for the third and final year of Pinewood Derby.
Good job Carter, and good job Dad for helping do whatever it was you two did to make such fast cars all these years!  :)  Now we will take a few years off until Mason joins cub scouts.
Oh, how we do love Cub Scouts!!!

Mustaches

Mason has been very interested in mustaches lately...another funny phase of his.  So, Uncle Kipp sent us a package with a very large variety of mustaches.  We had a great time trying them all on.

Finally Snow!

We have had a pretty mild winter this year.  We didn't receive any snow for Thanksgiving or Christmas and we have felt a little bummed out because of it.  For Christmas, the kids all received snow pants and gloves and were ready to use them....

After waiting long enough, the snow finally came, and then left shortly after.
But hey...it came.  And isn't it beautiful?
Josie didn't waste time waiting for the
kids to return home from school.
She did, however, take time to pose for a picture.
Then Mason returned home by the bus and the two set out to play in the
great white fur of winter.

Wicked Witch

Josie loves Carter's dog Percy.  Whenever I leave to take the kids to school, she sneaks him in the house with Memaw downstairs.  Well, today after I returned home, they snuck him back outside and thought I didn't notice.  A few hours after the first sneak-in event, I was checking to see what Josie was doing.  I found her upstairs with Percy in her room.  I told Percy to go outside.  Josie was upset with me and went pouting to her room.  I told her Percy wasn't allowed in the house, especially in her bed.  She yelled at me, "You're not my mother!  You're a wicked witch!"  There you have it!  Spoken from a 4 year old.  Love that girl!

My Little Sunbeams

These are a few of the my cute little sunbeams.  I am grateful I had the opportunity to teach them this year (2011).  I was released the end of December and called to work with the Young Women.  These darling faces will always be remembered.

Mrs. Rush's Dr. Seuss Review & Chloe's School Christmas Concert

Carter's 4th grade class put together this great little performance.
They wrote and performed several little plays.
Carter participated in the following...

Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are
- He played the part of Harry Potter

The Grinch Who Stole Education
- He played the part of "Who People"

Try To Remember the First of Noctember
- He played the part of Kids

This was a fun evening spent with Carter. These are some pretty talented kids in Mrs. Rush's class.  It was fun to see how creative they were with rhyming and coming up with plays that were similar to something Dr. Seuss would have created.  They loaded up on refreshments afterwards.

Right after this performance, we had to rush to the Auditorium at Twin Falls High School so that we could watch Chloe perform in her Christmas singing concert for Oregon Trail.  That was a lot of fun as well.
