Cub Scouts @ Firestation

Carter went on a Cub Scout field trip to the Fire station.
It was awesome!

They were learning about fire safety.
The boys that were late had to do push-ups.

What a lucky guy, sitting in a firetruck!

What a great field trip!  Hopefully we can become more
prepared at home in case of a fire!  Don't forget to:

Stop.  Drop.  & Roll.

Happy Valentine's Day Cakes

Valentine's Day is usually pretty simple at our home.  It normally consists of a few valentine treats and a love note of some sort.  Well this year wasn't much different, until I made these little heart cakes.
They were very simple to make, but you would have thought they were giving them away at Disneyland.  The kids were so excited.  It fit right into that, "This is the BEST Valentine's Day EVER!" category.
Then I threw these little paper things together, that literally involved zero creativity, and put a few treats in it.  I am so grateful to have kids that are thrilled with the most simple things.  Maybe it's just kids that love simple things...either way, I am grateful.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Morning Date Hike

For Valentine's Day, Matt and I went hiking on the Canyon Rim Trail.  It was a really beautiful day and perfect for hiking.  Most of the trail is paved and with the shadows of the canyon, some of it was icy and very slick.  The scenery was beautiful.

The Shoshone Falls were really flowing and there were a lot of people out taking pictures of the falls.  It is so beautiful and a great memory of growing up here.

When we first started hiking, some people asked us to go another way because there was a dog that had fallen off the cliff.  They were doing a "rescue training" they said and didn't want anyone else to fall off since it was slippery.  We hope the dog was ok.
Matt and I had a great time together.  We really don't get out alone as much as we need to.  Some peace and serenity with nature is definately a must once in a while.

Happy B-day Papa Bob

This year for Papa Bob's Birthday, we went to Gertie's for pizza.  It was one of his favorite places to eat, notice I said "one" of his favorites.  He had many!  :)
We didn't think to take pictures until after all the pizza was eaten, so here is the proof that we did eat until we couldn't eat anymore.  Gertie's is a buffet-type place where they bring around pizza after pizza delivered right to your table.  There are all types of flavors including Papa Bob's favorite Tomato & Garlic, and Seafood.  They even have lots of dessert pizza's which are good also.  The kids have lots of fun going there and it is always a tradition for the family to eat there when we are all in town.
Margie brought cake and balloons.  We ate the cake and sent the balloons up into the sky to wish Papa Bob a Happy Birthday.  It was fun watching the balloons go up in a gush.

Everyone is pointing to their favorite balloon, or just posing for the picture.  Matt hollered a "How-d-y!" for traditional kicks and we all laughed merrily.  :)  We sure miss Papa Bob's humor and good times.
Love you Papa Bob!

Murmuring Marshmallows

For Family Home Evening we talked about Lehi's family in the Book of Mormon and how his sons Laman and Lemuel always murmur.  We want to stop murmuring.  Then we played murmuring marshmallows.  The game is played by putting one marshmallow in your mouth at a time and after each marshmallow saying "murmuring marshmallow."  We had a lot of fun, as you can see.

Bike & Outside Fun

Mason made Angel Moroni's Trumpet in Primary today.  He was so proud of it.  He usually comes home from Primary with a little sticker that says, "Please ask me what I learned in Primary today."  Today when we asked him this question.  He said something to the effect of, "I like to take these stickers and twist them up, then put them in my mouth and swallow them."  I then asked him what he "learned" in primary and he said, "I forgot."  I hope he will soon start to "remember" what he learns in primary because I know he is learning.  :)
The kids were so anxious to get outside for some fun since the weather is starting to warm up a bit.  (At least today...I am sure we have a long ways to go before it is warm.)  Josie has discovered Mason's dinosaur pajamas and she thinks it is fun to wear them.  Gotta love the whole outfit with pink boots and coat!
She can really get to moving on that little pedal-less bike.  Her push-leg really gets to moving fast as she goes round and round.
Oops!  That could leave a mark!

There's a farm girl out riding her tractor.  As soon as she can master that little tractor, she can move on to the bigger one.  And a very happy boy in the red car behind!

Gotta love winter time & outside play!

Snogging

Mason went downstairs with a picture, to ask Memaw if she lost her wig.  The picture was taken going down the log ride of Splash Mountain at Disneyland.  Everyone's hair  was flying back and it looked like Memaw was bald.  (Her hair is so dark it blends into the dark wood.)  He came upstairs and reported to us that she said yes her wig fell off.  We then asked Mason what Memaw was doing.  He said, "Oh, she's downstairs 'snogging' on her pillow."
